Vacuum Turning Portal for Panels

The turning unit offers two different "automatic" operating modes:

I. Component is conveyed without rotation
The component is only shifted laterally, aligned to the reference edge (zero line) of the machining center, and then fed further to the CNC machining center (BAZ).

II. Component is conveyed with rotation
The component is shifted laterally and rotated along its longitudinal axis before being fed further to the CNC machining center.

Each function can also be manually controlled in "manual" mode.

Max. panel dimensions:
LWH: 8000mm x 2500mm x 100mm
Max. weight: 200kg

Min. panel dimensions:
LWH: 1500mm x 1500mm x 12mm

The turning portal is equipped with a total of 24 vacuum suction cups, ensuring gentle handling of the panels.
The panels are always lifted via suction, then either moved horizontally to the zero line of the machining center or additionally rotated 180° en route before being delivered to the reference edge.
The rotational movement is monitored via absolute encoders; the lateral positioning is controlled by adjustable photoelectric sensors.
Vacuum is generated by a blower.
The roller table, measuring 8500 mm x 4300 mm with roller diameter 108 mm, is fitted with material-friendly rubber rings and is driven by a SEW gear motor.
Control of the roller table is via frequency inverter, adjustable speed up to 45 m/min.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The entire area is enclosed by fencing; the longitudinal side of the system is secured by two sliding doors, which are safety-monitored.

An operator touchpanel (12") is integrated into the fence area.
The installed PLC (Siemens S7-1500) is programmed with three modes:
• Automatic operation
• Manual operation
• Maintenance operation

Input signals, loading side:
– Start roller table
– Rotate yes/no
– EMERGENCY STOP complete system

Input signals, unloading side:
– Start roller table
– EMERGENCY STOP complete system

System output signals:
– EMERGENCY STOP complete system
– Panel infeed confirmed
