The can seamer is the machine used to hermetically seal the lid to the can body before sterilization. Depending on the product, sterilization can also be performed before filling.

The can is sealed by deforming and subsequently overlapping the metal layers of the can body and the lid through compression.

The result is a type of hook between the two, which achieves a hermetic seal and, consequently, the airtightness of the container. This sealing requires a rubber gasket (sealing gasket) inserted into the rim of the lid to achieve the most effective bonding of the metal layers.
