Exposure/Mechanical Section
The MAKO 8 uses a 405 nm violet laser. ECRM states that the single beam can be calibrated according to the sensitivity of the plate. The maximum resolution of 3,556 dpi also allows for the use of demanding screening techniques, including stochastic screening.
The system is mechanically quite interesting: the plate is positioned on a pin-bar registration system and then moved under the laser head by the Precision Drive System. The documentation specifies a positioning control of ±2 µm.
